TO WHOME IT MAY CONCERN
Hurricane Ivan, a Category 3 system with sustained winds of 115mph, impacted Grenada on September 7, 2004, leaving a trail of
extensive damage to the entire country. All utilities were knocked out, making it difficult for communications within Grenada and
between Grenada and the outside world. From all reports approximately 90% of houses were destroyed or damaged.
A Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA) team is presently on the ground in Grenada providing support and confirming
priority needs. They have indicated that there is an urgent need for the following:
- Water
- Food
- Tents
- Blankets
- Tarpaulins
- Roof material
- Batteries (all sizes)
- Building supplies (all types)
- Construction tools
- Emergency housing
- Hand held sets required to improve communication among emergency workers
A disaster relief fund has been set up and all monetary donations should be sent to JP Morgan Chase, Account # 292609266065.
