Dr. Jennifer Dolly has been appointed Director of Social Recovery of the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD). Dr. Dolly, a Trinidadian, has a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Union Institute and University of Cincinnati, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University New York and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus. Dr. Dolly, who assumed her new post at the ARD on Monday (January 24), is the former coordinator of the Social Work Programme at the UWI St. Augustine campus and brings a wealth of experience in social work and counselling to the Agency. Some of her recent research activities include papers on The Nature of Domestic Violence in Trinidad and Tobago; Men Speak Out: Perspectives on Domestic Violence by men who have abused women; Gendered Relationships and Domestic Violence: Through the medium of the calypso, 2002; The Impact of Domestic Violence on Children in Trinidad and Tobago; Perspectives on Domestic Violence in Trinidad and Tobago; and Politics, gender and third world women: Case studies in Trinidad and Tobago, 2002. Dr. Dolly is the 1992 recipient of the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Excellence in Field Work from Columbia University, New York. She is a graduate member of the Caribbean Leadership Group, Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Washington, DC., and a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Social Workers, the Women and Development Studies Group, UWI and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
