Hon. Jean Augustine addresses ARD Board of Directors Special Advisor for Grenada Hon. Jean Augustine has called on the Agency for Reconstruction and Development Inc. (ARD) to play a large leadership role in coordinating the activities of every entity involved in rebuilding Grenada. Hon. Augustine was, at the time, addressing the meeting of the ARD Board of Directors, which was convened prior to the Official Launch of the ARD on Tuesday, March 15. Canada believes in the capacity of the ARD to play this important leadership role and I look forward to working in concert with you towards building Grenada back even better than it was before, she said. During her address to the ARD Board, Hon. Augustine advocated a concerted effort on the part of all Grenadians, grouping together Government departments and agencies, civil society and non-governmental organisations and the greater Grenadian population. It is an approach that will require the ARD to play a large leadership role in coordinating activities, following up on pledges that were made in the aftermath of the Hurricane and in mobilizing private philanthropy, Ms. Augustine told the Board. Ms. Augustine was appointed Special Advisor for Grenada to the Prime Minister of Canada in November. She has spent this week in Grenada, attending the Official Launch of the ARD and making several presentations to civil society recipients of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives. These included the Agency for Rural Transformation, the St. Matthews R.C. School, the Apres Toute Steering Committee, GRENCODA, the Coast Guard Development Group, the Dougaldston Development Committee and the Mt. Pleasant and Grand Bay Development Organisation in Carriacou. Information for photo: (l) Mr. Marius St. Rose, Chairman of the ARD Board of Directors; (r) Hon.
