US$4,750.00 FOR HURRICANE RELIEF IN GRENADA

President of the City of New York Borough of Queens, Hon. Helen M. Marshall, on Monday, handed over a donation totaling $4,750.00 to newly arrived Permanent Representative for Grenada HE Ambassador Ruth Elizabeth Rouse.
The Ceremony, which was held at the President’s office in Kew Gardens, Queens, was also attended by Representatives of Haiti and Jamaica, respectively, who also received donations to aid with their hurricane relief.
President Marshall said the appeal to the residents and Elected Officials of South East Queens was made in response to the devastation in Grenada. A Dinner Event was held on October 19, 2004, with donations still being received. The President expressed the hope that the donation would help in the recovery efforts and promised additional contributions as they arrived.
"We know the Hurricane was devastating for the people of Grenada. We extend our prayers for a speedy recovery. God Bless Grenada."
In accepting the donation, the Grenadian Permanent Representative expressed sincere thanks and appreciation on behalf of the Government and People of Grenada for this kind gesture, and informed the President that the funds would go a long way in helping to ease the discomfort suffered by Grenadians.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Permanent Representative, Mr. Allen McGuire. Former Permanent Representative, Dr Lamuel Stanislaus was also present at the Ceremony.
Former Permanent Representative Mr. Eugene Pursoo, was present at the ceremony and added a further $300 from the Medgar Evers College Student Faculty Association to the donation.
